The BIK Youth Panel 2022 is kicking off tonight!
The 14th edition of the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) Youth Panel is approaching and will culminate at Safer Internet Forum (SIF) 2022 on 27 October in Brussels and online.
Given the new European strategy for a Better Internet for Kids (BIK+) key focus on youth participation and empowerment and to mark also the European Year of Youth, this edition of Safer Internet Forum (SIF) will be organised in a youth-led manner, with young people playing an active role in the planning, preparation and delivery of the Forum.
This year, no less than 20 young people involved with national Safer Internet Centres (SICs) from all over Europe will represent the voices of the youth on online safety, digital literacy, and internet governance issues.
Kicking off today with the ‘meet and greet’ meeting, through a series of online meetings, participants start actively preparing their session by sharing their respective perspectives on better and safer internet issues with their peers, agreeing on key themes, and preparing awareness materials - in particular videos - on these topics.
Traditionally, the BIK Youth Panel is organised as a face-to-face event, in the days preceding Safer Internet Forum. However, due to the health crisis and restrictions imposed on travel, over the last two years the BIK Youth Panel took place online. We are happy to announce that this year’s edition will take place onsite in Brussels, Belgium on 25 and 26 October. During these two days, the young people will be able to finalise their awareness materials and rehearse their presentations for the Safer Internet Forum.
