The Youth Panel was a dynamic and engaging discussion platform during the Safer Internet Day (SID) event in Viseu, Portugal. It brought together young people and encouraged them to explore their concerns and perspectives regarding artificial intelligence (AI). Young person João Brás shares his reflections on the day.

On 12 April 2024, the European Youth Week kick-off event was held at the European Parliament in Brussels. Today, 25 April 2024, is International Girls in ICT Day. This global initiative aims to empower girls and young women in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). It stems from a vision to bridge the gender gap in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) field and encourages more girls and young women to pursue careers in technology.

AdWiseOnline campaign resources aim to equip YOU(th) with the knowledge they need to outsmart online ads and traps and know their rights.

The Google summit on Fighting Misinformation online took place in Brussels on Thursday, 21 March 2024.  The event served as an opportunity to reflect on emerging disinformation trends and media literacy challenges moving forward, and especially in the context of the upcoming European elections, followed by other crucial elections in the United States and India later in the year. One of the sessions was called "Building Trust - Media Literacy with and for Young Voters" and saw the involvement and participation of eight BIK Youth Ambassadors. On Tuesday, 27 February 2024, Maja, our BIK Youth Ambassador from Poland, participated in the Content with Conscience conference in Brussels.  She was one of the speakers at the breakout session ‘Ethics of kidfluences, mom/dad influencers, and sharing’. She shares her experience and insights,  offering a unique perspective on the discussed topics.

The Danish Safer Internet Centre spoke to Vibeke, who participated in the BIK Youth Panel at last year’s Safer Internet Forum in Brussels. She shared her insights on the Forum and the importance of involving youth in promoting online safety. 

On Tuesday, 6 February 2024, we celebrated the 21st edition of Safer Internet Day (SID), with events and activities taking place right across the globe. With a theme, once again, of “Together for a better internet”, the day called upon all stakeholders to join together to make the internet a safer and better place for all, and especially for children and young people. The day was a great success, and we are excited to share with you just a few of the achievements so far from the coordination level.
